We have developed tailored flagship programmes to support women that are moving goods across the borders to benefit from trade facilitation initiatives intended to ease the trading environment.

According to the Southern Africa Trade Hub, women comprise an estimated 70 percent of informal cross border traders in the Southern Africa region.

When women register and formalise their businesses, they can fully benefit from mainstream trade and business opportunities offered by governments, non-governmental organisations, corporates, and international organisations. They can conduct cross border trade with ease including access to relevant information on requirements for import and export procedures.

The gap we identified is that of lack of readily available and accessible information about the regulatory requirements and rules for cross border trade, import and export, access to markets and how to join regional and global value chains. We will close this gap through our services offering, as well as the flagship programmes designed to facilitate trade for women.
